Must we die? Are there beings in the Cosmos who live forever? For our ancestors learning how to write was a major advancement, as it meant that they could pass their stories and ideas on to the future. From that moment on, death could no longer silence us.

Our ancestors used to immortalise their thoughts on clay tablets. Now, with technological advances, it can be said that our world actually radiates our stories throughout the universe. With radio waves constantly being beamed into space, it is possible that if any other life-forms exist in the expanse of space, they already know we are here….

Back on earth, life itself sends its own messages across billions of years. It’s a message every one of us carries inside, inscribed into the cells of our bodies, in a language that all life on Earth can read. Every living thing is a masterpiece, written by nature and edited by evolution.

Join Neil deGrasse Tyson as he shares a hopeful vision of what our future could be in Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey ‘The Immortals’ on Sunday 25th May at 7pm on National Geographic Channel.
